In April 1999, cym started to transfer real spaces into the virtual
to explore the relationship between real and virtual dimensions. In 2001,
the 'virtual Pekarna' was created - a virtual re-construction of the artspace
in maribor with the possibility of remote interaction. A performance experimented
with the connection between the virtual and the real environment. In Februar
2003, the virtual reconstruction of Forum Stadtpark Graz was launched with
a performance at Forum Stadtpark.
Now this two virtual spaces will be connected, thus generating a 'Third
Space', which is abstract, a new dimension transgressing the two single
virtual spaces. Main focus of the workshop is exploring the possibilities
of communication in this new dimension. On one hand, the technical
possibilities will be tested, on the other hand the political, social and
cultural impact of this dimension will be explored.
What will happen, when the real and the virtual meet? Are there differences
between this dimensions? Where is the difference? And what actions can
result out of this new, third space?
